Closer to 30,000 views

Our website is just 111 views short of 30,000 this year! Considering the site is less than 7 years old, this is an amazing feat. We had a late start in 2010 when we had 3,179 views. In 2015, we reached 20,791 views just piping 2014 by 65 views.  However, June 2016 has been special mainly because of the June Congress when we had 11,602 posts during the month.  The initial target for 2016 was 25,000, but we may have to revise it to 35,000, which is a 68% increase.  Will we be taking ads next year?

Keep the news coming.

Dayna finishes 5th.

Congratulations to Dayna Ferguson who finished a gallant 6th in the above tournament at the weekend. As reported previously, she needed a win in round 5 to be in with a chance of a prize but unfortunately lost to Aram Hakobyan who finished 5th.  She finished with a win in her final match.  However, I expect another truck load of rating points to follow. (The truck contained 59 rating points to move her to 1444)  Looks like Dayna is coming into form just in time for the World Youth Championships in Russia in October.  Who knows it may transfer to league form also!

Well done Dayna.

Dayna going well

Dayna Ferguson (seeded 11th) is going well in the City of Dublin Challengers, lying in joint second place after 4 rounds of matches, just a half point behind the joint leaders. She plays 2nd seed Aram Hakobyan (1532) in the final round. However, with the joint leaders Robert McLoughlin (1429) from Blanchardstown and Dermot Nolan (1372) from Gonzaga, also playing each other in the last round, a win could secure the title.

GO DAYNA GO!

Dayna is 5th in Ulster Championships

Congratulations to Dayna Ferguson who finished 5th in the Intermediate Ulster Championships, just missing out on 2nd place by 1 point.  Her two defeats were against the eventual winner Jonathon Peoples and Ian Woodfield who finished joint 2nd.  She also picked up a handy 73 rating points, which lifts her to 17th in the female rating list and 7th in the under 21 list. There is no let up as she’s in action at the weekend in the City of Dublin!

Sounds like a good weekend’s work.

1st League match only a week away!

The Leinster Chess season commences early for the Drogheda, with the recently promoted Heidenfeld team in action in 8 days time. They entertain Phibsboro in their new venue and team captain Philip Mitchell will be hoping for a good start. Phibsboro finished in 8th place last season with 3 wins, 2 draws and 6 defeats, but will be difficult opponents.

Best of luck guys.
